Louis Vuitton is apparently looking to beef up its presence in the glow-in-the-dark menswear market. The high-fashion brand has major interests in the Hip-Hop crowd after a recent rash of artists making stylish appearances in the brand.

Sitting front and center at the French fashion house’s spring 2009 show in Paris last week, “Mr. I Wear What I Want”, Kanye West told Women’s Wear Daily that he has signed on to collaborate on a line of men’s footwear for the LVMH-owned luxury brand.

The clothes-conscious rapper also said that he’s working on a non-Louis-related signature line of womenswear that’s set to debut this fall.

This is a lot of work for the young artist who’s also been quoted as having a shoe coming up under Nike called the Nike Air Yeezys. Over 6 pairs of the Yeezys have been spotted on Wests feet and blog NikeAirYeezys.com is keeping sneaker culture enthusiasts abreast of the latest talks of the shoe.

West has blogged before about his passion for couture, calling runway shows “one of [his] favorite things in the world.”

He performed June 7 at a gala ball at the Brooklyn Museum to tout the opening of contemporary artist Takashi Murakami’s latest show, which incorporates a line of specially designed Louis Vuitton bags for the especially well-heeled art appreciator.

“I grew up with the Louis look, you know,” West told the U.K.’s Guardian newspaper at the LV show Friday at the Jardins de Bagatelle. “I just love the style.”

Information on West’s Louis Vuitton footwear line will be posted on Sojones.com as it is made available.
